How it works
How TrakInfinity works
A small device in your vehicle, a free app on your phone, and our servers keeping the two in touch. Here is the whole thing, start to finish.
Getting started
From order to tracking, in four steps
- 1
We fit the device in your vehicle
A trained technician comes to you, or you visit us. For most vehicles we use a plug-in wiring harness made for that exact model, so no original wire is cut or spliced. The device is tucked away out of sight and the technician tests it before leaving.
Takes about 30–45 minutes for most vehicles.
- 2
You download the app
The TrakInfinity app is free on the Play Store and the App Store. Install it on any phone you like — and on more than one phone if other people in the family need access.
Works on Android and iPhone.
- 3
You activate the device
Activate the device from inside the app. Our servers configure it automatically — there are no settings to type in, no SIM to insert and nothing technical for you to do.
Usually done in a couple of minutes.
- 4
Your vehicle appears on the map
From then on the device reports its position continuously, and the app shows where the vehicle is, which way it is pointing and how fast it is going. Set up your alerts and geo-fences once, and it runs on its own.
Nothing to switch on each time you drive.

What is actually happening
Useful if you like to know how the pieces fit together — but you never have to think about any of it.
The device finds its position
The tracker receives signals from GPS satellites and works out exactly where it is, the same way the maps app on your phone does.
It sends that position over mobile data
A SIM built into the device sends the position to our servers over the mobile network. The SIM and its data are included with your plan.
Our servers store and watch it
We record the position so you can replay trips later, and we check every update against the alerts you have set — a speed limit, a geo-fence boundary, the ignition turning on.
Your phone gets the result
The app shows the live position on the map, and anything that trips an alert is pushed to your phone straight away.
Where it works, and where it struggles
Works well
- Open roads, highways and city streets
- Anywhere with mobile network coverage
- Day and night, in any weather
Can be limited
- Underground parking and tunnels, where satellites are out of view
- Areas with no mobile signal — positions are sent once signal returns
- Dense clusters of tall buildings, where accuracy can drop for a while
